Follow the path hop by hop with MTR

Loss and latency are measured at every hop, so you can see where the path slows down at a glance.

What is MTR?

MTR (My Traceroute) repeatedly measures every router on the way to the target. For each hop you get the packet loss percentage and the average, best and worst latency.

One thing to watch

Loss shown at an intermediate hop is not always real loss. Routers may rate-limit the ICMP replies sent to them. Loss is real only if it carries over to later hops and the target; if it shows at a single hop, it is usually harmless.

Pingu runs 10 cycles for MTR and shows at most 25 hops.
