Check reachability with ping
Four packets are sent to the target; latency and packet loss are shown per location.

What is ping?
Ping sends a small ICMP echo packet to the target and measures how long the reply takes, in milliseconds (ms). A low value is fast; a packet that never returns is loss.
How do I read the result?
- Average latency: a few ms within a city, 20–60 ms within Europe is normal.
- Packet loss: consistently above 0% may point to a problem on the path. A single lost packet is usually harmless.
- Difference between locations: if one location is clearly slower, the problem is on the path between it and the target.
Some servers deliberately ignore ICMP. A site can be up even when ping fails.
To see the hops along the way, use MTR or traceroute.
